Sunny, 70 and Slimey

It's expected to be a sunny 70 degress on Friday with a few clouds. Perfect weather for a picnic and outdoor concert! I wonder if the top 3 coin-collecting teachers that will be slimed are wishing for rain instead?

PTO is selling cheese and pepperoni pizza slices for $1 starting at 6:00pm. 4th grade is getting a jump start on their science camp fund by selling drinks and desserts for a dollar as well.

Eddie Coker CDs will be on sale for $15 at the concert. Stick around after the concert and Eddie will sign your CD!

54 Days...

Now that spring break is over, the countdown to summer vacation is about to start. But PTO is already thinking about next school year and looking at Pre-Ordered School Supplies. Parents will be able to order them in May and pick them up at Meet the Teacher Night in August.
Burks Family Picnic and Outdoor Concert is only 2 weeks away. Eddie Coker will start the concert at 6:30 but you won't want to miss any of the pre-cocnert activity. You can either bring your own food or starting at 6:00 you can buy pizza, desserts and drinks. Food is not the only reason to get there early. There are rumors that "winning" teachers (and maybe even Mrs. Bendorf) will be slimed in conncection with the Coins for the Cure coin drive. You will have to see for yourself if the rumors are true.

Getting ready for Eddie

PTO is busy making plans for the Burks' Family Picnic and Outdoor Concert with Eddie Coker on Friday, April 4th. Eddie Coker has played for kids around Texas for years. Haven't heard of him? Burks is going to start playing his music in the hallways and you can check out his website at http://www.eddiecoker.com/

We spent this morning watching his free online videos at http://www.eddiecoker.com/htdocs/videoSelector.html and now we're all doing the Woo Woo Dance. Woo Woo! Have a great Spring Break!

PTO's Presidential Race

Are you ready for kids to wave at you as walk through school, have Mr. Young call you "Madame Presidente," and plan family nights that make students very excited?
Then you are ready to be PTO's next President!
Or perhaps you'd perfer a position with a little less responsibility like Publicity Chairperson or Fundraiser Coordinator.

The PTO board has several openings for next year inlcuding President, Vice-President, Fundraiser Coordinator and Publicity Chairperson. There will be more positions open in 2009 as our secretary, treasurer and book fair coordinator will have students moving on to Middle School. If you are interested in getting more involved, consider volunteering for one of these positions or perhaps acting as an apprentice to our current treasurer and book fair coordinator.
If you are interested or would like to nominate someone else, contact me or speak with Judy Montgomery at the front desk. I am also always happy to hear any ideas parents have about PTO events or volunteering!
Thanks,
Erika
